Hyundai Motor Company has finally unveiled the much-awaited Hyundai Venue sub-4 meter SUV in India at an event organized on a Cruise. This is the brand’s global model and has also been simultaneously make global debut at the 2019 New York Motor Show. The Venue compact SUV is scheduled to be launched in the Indian market on May 21, 2019. It will directly rival the likes of Mahindra XUV300, Ford EcoSport and the higher variants of the Maruti Vitara Brezza and the Tata Nexon. The Hyundai Venue’s development direction is defined by Solid Presence, Refreshing Driving Experience and Leading-Edge Seamless Connectivity. It is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 8 lakh – Rs 12 lakh.
The Hyundai Venue is available with 3 engine options – a 1.0-litre Kappa T-GDI turbocharged petrol, a 1.2-litre Kappa petrol and a 1.4L U2 CRDi diesel. The Venue also marks the debut of brand’s global 1.0L turbocharged engine that is capable of producing 120PS of power and 72Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox or a six-speed manual gearbox. The 1.2-litre petrol engine is paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox and is capable of producing 83PS of power and 115Nm of torque. The diesel engine is the same that powers the Verna sedan. Paired to a 6-speed manual gearbox, the 1.4L unit is capable of producing 89bhp of power and 220Nm of torque.
In terms of proportions, the new Hyundai Venue is 3,995mm in length, 1,770mm in width and 1,590mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,500rpm. The sub-4 meter SUV is claimed to be equipped with a hot of comfort and convenience features like electric sunroof, wireless phone charging, air purifier, cruise control, rear air-con vents, cornering lamps, glove box cooling etc.
The Hyundai Venue is claimed to be India’s first Smart Connected SUV, which comes with advanced connectivity solution – Hyundai Blue Link. The Blue Link has an in-built and tamper-proof device powered by Vodafone-Idea eSIM and a Cloud-based Voice Recognition Platform from Global AI Company. The Hyundai Blue Link offers 33 connected car features out of which 10 are India specific features. Some of the Connectivity features include remote start, door/climate/horn/light control, real-time traffic information, POI Send2Car, Destination Set in link with schedule, vehicle theft notification, Share My Car, etc.
The Hyundai Venue is equipped with an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which is compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. In terms of safety and security, the new Hyundai Venue gets up to 6 airbags, speed sensing auto door lock, ESC, ESP and VSM (Vehicle Stability Management), HAC (Hill Assist Control), BAS (Brake Assist System), etc.
The sub-4 meter Hyundai Venue also gets several segment-first features including 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, wireless charger, air purifier, projector fog lamps, HD display screen, chromed door handles, wheel air curtains, arkamys sound, eco-coating, etc.
The styling of the new Hyundai Venue is inspired by the bigger Hyundai SUVs including Palisade and the Santa Fe. It gets the signature hexagonal cascade grille with squarish face, split-headlamp setup with LED DRLs on the top and main headlight positioned lower on the bumper. The front bumper has wider air-intake and faux silver skid plate. From the sides, the SUV looks like a squeezed Creta. It features squared-off wheel arches with peripheral cladding, diamond cut alloy wheels, sloping C-pillar and Creta-inspired tail-gate.
